A little explanation...then we can have some fun

Welcome! I am pleased to be hosting Amy's Cyber Shower. As most of you know...Amy and her beloved, Rich are adding, adding, adding to their happy home!

When I found out, my first question is "who is throwing the shower" because it is going to have to be a doozy of a shower to welcome 3 little ones into this world! Amy told me that she is turning down shower requests because she (understandably) needs to rest at this stage.

Being a Mom myself, I know the value of a "diaper cake" at 3am in the middle of winter. So while I want Amy to get all of the rest she needs to grow those special little treasures, I don't want her to miss out on the benefits of a baby shower. So I hope you'll all join me in this Cyber Shower. I have absolutely no idea what that means, I just made it up...but I'm sure I'm not the first to have thought of it, so I'll be googling and trying to glean some good ideas off of someone else.

For now until I see how this is going to evolve, I plan on posting to this blog as schedule permits until the new little bundles of joy bounce into our lives and hearts. I intend to post about baby shower related issues and even may plan some games, with prizes and all.

I will also be getting with Amy about what she and Rich still need in order to get as prepared as they can. As most of you Mom's know...what she thinks she needs, may not be the tried and true things that we have come to love and trust (Boudreaux's Butt Paste...I'm just sayin').

Just to get started I am going to begin this Cyber Shower with a well known bb shower favorite, "Motherly Advice". Since we don't have a guest book or scrap book pages to write on, please add your comments to this post with your awesome motherly advice.

Hahahahahaha! This is SO COOL!!!!! And, um, don't know how I missed it, but TRIPLETS? Holy pickles! Holy multiple pickles! HOLY POD PEOPLE!!!!!

As for advice? Watch lots of TV. Now. While you can. And movies. The cheesier the better, as you will cry, anyway. Do you watch THE BEST SHOW OUT THERE THESE DAYS, Modern Family? If not...then I know what I'm sending you!

Amy!!! I was so thrilled to be invited and I will be thinking of fun things to send you! My, you are so blessed, blessed, blessed!

I have raised two boys, who are 10 years apart in age, so my advice may not work for precious little female podettes! All I know is, when washing your hands a lot after diaper changes, use a good hand cream! (I had an in-home child care when my youngest was a baby and changed nearly 35 diapers some days!) Lots of talking, singing and rocking will take over your days and nights for awhile; but believe me, they grow up so fast you will treasure these years in your memory so much when you are 50! XOXOXO from your friends at CYF Volunteer Program

Amy and Rich--

I'm SOOOOOO happy for you! Yaaayyy! And yes, do take it easy while you can. Advice? I wouldn't presume, being single and childless! Um...get a mini-van?

Really so happy for you. Blessings.
xoxo

Congratulations Rich and Amy! About five times a day, K and I just look at each other and say "Triplets" and somehow, no matter what child difficulty we're going through, that one little word makes us feel better. Triplets! (See what I mean? It's like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious).

As far as advice goes, I agree with Lauren. If you can go out to see a movie in a theatre, do so now. Also, eat dinner at restaurants. Because it's going to be awhile before you can do dinner and a movie again.
(But it's all for bliss).

Best wishes,

T.

Congrats, Amy! So exciting! As far as advice (from one writer mamma to a soon-to-be writer mamma)... I found some nannies through a CSU job website-- they came to my home for a few hours at a time and watched my lil dude while I wrote (in my trailer, but you could hole up in a room). If you're interested, you could start interviewing nannies soon, since it's a bit of a process... I wish i'd started before lil dude came.

Have fun on this crazy adventure...

xo

Somehow I see a terrific memoir ahead -- if you have the time to write it. Congratulations times three. It really is going to be quite an adventure. xoxo Jil

Amy already got a nice long e-mail of totally unsolicted mommy advice from me, so here's a silly little piece of advice. Hang a lingerie bag from a hook inside your hamper and put all those tiny little socks right into the bag when they are dirty. Then zip it up and throw it in the washing machine and then dryer and, voila, all those socks stay together and you can fold them quick and easy. This sounds trivial now, but you'll thank me for it later. It's the trivial things that will drive you nuts!
